Pre/Postnatal CES

In 2008, I needed a change.  Physically and emotionally, I could not continue on the path that I was on. I, like many others had slowly let my weight and formerly very active lifestyle slip away from me and was making destructive choices that were negatively impacting every part of my life.  It was at this time that I joined a gym and began working with a personal trainer (Anthony Ortiz).  Through this experience, I saw a change in myself that I never thought possible.  While dropping the 40lbs that I had picked up post-college was a great feeling, the emotional transformation has been far more rewarding.  I knew that in order to turn my life around, I had to make “sacrifices” (at least that’s how I saw them at the time) – so I reprioritized my life, putting fitness and nutrition right at the top.  I began learning about different styles of weightlifting, training, programming, movement, visualization, and body awareness.

In 2013, I realized that lifting was not just something I loved to do.  I was spending most of my time at work thinking about Olympic Lifting, programming workouts for myself and my friends, and counting down the hours until I could get to the gym.  I could no longer only have an hour a day to devote to this new life that I wanted.  I wanted to do this all day, every day, and I couldn’t wait to get started.  So I left my job, and acquired my certification so I could help others take steps towards a stronger, healthier, happier life.

As a trainer, I know that each client’s fitness journey is unique.  Each person will start their training at different levels of fitness, different backgrounds, different times in their life…and that is what makes it so exciting.  Each individual will respond differently to each style of exercise.  Finding a particular mode of exercise or specific movement that connects with a client, that creates that spark, is the most thrilling time.  It is that moment when their journey really begins on the inside, and that excitement they have about training starts to spread into other parts of their life – they begin to see how strong they truly are, and owning their bodies and their health in a whole new way.
